Something about Germany...
In Germany, every male adult has to go to the army as soon as he's finished school or an apprenticeship.
If someone doesn't want to do that he has the possibility to do what is called civil-service.
It can be done in hospitals, homes for the old or at any other place like that. Generally speaking, you could
say it's about helping people that need help. You usually have to do it for 13 months.
